Near the top, Steve???

Chers Map, Anton, Sjaak, Bram and Anton!

Wow! If I was convinced, when leaving the Avifauna last Sunday, that the convention you put together was a G-O-L-D-E-N one...the “post partum bleus” wink I still experience are the confirmation of the exquisite time I had, but I am sure I speak also on behalf of the 4 Swiss Miss members that were there. Liberty, at the Tuchinsky was unforgettable. Well...so was ending up the second runner up for the costume contest! Doei! Many many many THANKS. You are KINGS!  grin Catherine

My dear friends of the Perfect Day Tent,

After your presentation at the Harlem convention, I was expecting a top-notch time in Amsterdam, and you didn’t disappoint!  We had a wonderful time visiting your lovely country and seeing many old friends again, and making some new ones.  Congratulations, and “Danken u” to you all!

And a very special “Danken u” to Anton, who personally guided my family from the 5 Flies to the Anne Frank Huis so we wouldn’t get lost!

Dear Perfect Day Tent of Amsterdam,

Tomorrow we return to the USA after many weeks of travelling in Europe. Anita, Ellen, and I all agree that the absolute highlight of our time abroad was the time at the convention.

Thanks and congratulations to everyone who planned, participated, and helped maked the convention a top-notch affair, second-to-none in the annals of conventioneering.

The mix of activities was wonderful, as was the (almost) never-ending heaping quantities of food provided at the many functions. And while the convention was great, it was the people who really made this convention the great success that it was.

We thank you all for providing so many great times and memories for us to hang on to until the next convention in 2010.

The Perfect Day Tent put on a great convention. Highlights: The overall organization, the Tuschinski Theater & show, the tours, Leavy & McKenna, the Avifauna, the canal cruises, the food, the entertainment, Map Boon running around all over the place, the people, the Model T’s,the shuttle from the Golden Tulip, the Netherlands, the Burning Pants in the 5 Flies, etc. Lowlight: The weather.

I really have nothing to say! This was THE best Convention I have attended in all my years smile Every little thing was organized, making for a smooth convention (or so it seemed!) and a fantastic time in Amsterdam!
I miss each and everyone of the Convention Organizers (you know who you are) as well as the many new friends from around the globe.
Again, thank you so very much for a fabulous experience.
The Boys would be proud!
Love,
Ellen Sorkin

Dear friends,

Roger Gordon asked me to thank the organization who did such a fabulous job making this a great Convention.

I thought this guestbook would be a nice way to share Roger’s thoughts with you all rather than to e-mail you all seperately.

Shiver your timbers,

René

I have a new name for Map Boon--"The Flying Dutchman” (Since he was in at least 3 places at the same time during the Convention.)--Alex Kogut

The convention committee deserves a LOT of credit for putting on a really great convention. We had a really wonderful time--so many great events, food and fun, in a beatiful location. Thanks for all of your hard work for the Sons.

This was the greatest re-enactment of “Singin’ in the Rain” since ... never.

If only the rest of the world could sit in a 1921 movie palace and watch Laurel and Hardy with the Sons.  What a peaceful place we would be in.

Many, many thanks to The Perfect Day tent for all your hard work. You must be the someone having a joke: you’re a long distance form Augusta, Georgia and well worth the trip.

One of the best conventions ever!

These wooden clogs I bought are defective.  For the past few weeks, I’ve been clicking the heels of them and repeating “There’s no place like Amsterdam ... there’s no place like Amsterdam.” But, I’m still here ... and you’re still there!

What a knockout!  You all did it!  You made the Perfect Day the Perfect Week!  And no small feat that was ... especially when you successfully combined the logistical challenges of offering so many engaging tours.  What a beautiful convention venue you selected along with so many wonderful opportunities for Sons of the Desert camaraderie and sheer joy.

Each of you (Robert, Map, Anton, Sjaak, Bram, etc.)were the perfect hosts—responding to endless inquiries, needs and issues with good humor, enthusiasm, patience, collaboration, calm efficiency, skillful diplomacy and the Sons spirit.  It was obvious from the start that we were in good hands.

And, oh what a time it was!  I knew from the international raising of the “Welcome Sons” banner in front of Avifauna that this would be a convention to remember!  And I have days worth of photos to prove it!

Thank you, dear, dear friends for the gift of Amsterdam ‘08!

Now, if I could just get these clogs to work ......
